Dipperfox conical log splitter

Here’s the first adapter you can use with a Dipperfox log cutter – a cone splitter for logs.

The cone spl itter can be used with all Dipperfox models (SC400/600/850 Pro). All you need to do is unscrew the cutting tip and replace it with the splitting cone (this takes about 15 minutes of work).

The main advantage of this cone splitter, compared to other similar products on the market, is the torque provided by the Dipperfox hydraulic motor (for SC400 – 13,000N; SC600 – 17,000N and SC850Pro – 43,000N).

The basis of operation is an automatic gearbox mounted in the hydraulic motor of the Dipperfox log milling machine. It automatically decreases if grinding or splitting requires more torque. The result is maximum working speed at all times when the machine is in operation. This solution saves working time and fuel consumption. The gear shift is operated by hydraulics, without the involvement of electronics. This means no plugs, no corroded contacts and no electrical errors. No worries about dust, mud or vibration – just clean hydraulics.

Because the Dipperfox conical splitter features four parallel thread lines (called ridges) with a massive 30mm (1.2″) thread pitch, this means that each turn reaches up to 150mm (5.9″) into the log. Most other splitters on the market have a thread pitch of 10mm to 15mm, so with the Dipperfox splitter you can split logs more than twice as fast.

The top of the splitting cone is made of Toolox® 44 steel, a tempered steel that is suitable for extrusion dies and for the manufacture of high-strength structural components, manufactured by SSAB. Its nominal hardness (HBW) is 450 HBW/45 HRC, which is the same as the hardness of Hardox 450 wear-resistant steel. The top of the cone is replaceable.
